Bridgewater Village was known for it woolen mill in the days when sheep farming was dominant. Today the mill is a small mall preserving the architecture of the old mill. Inside you can find a
few small shops and Charlie Shackelton's Furniture factory and showroom and Miranda's Pottery.
The mill has evolved into a artist's colony. |

Woodstock, Vermont
Woodstock (www.woodstockvt.com) ist bekannt wegen der reichen New Yorker Familie Rockefeller und ist nicht zu verwechseln mit dem Woodstock, in dem 1969 das Rockfestival stattfand. Woodstock ist eigentlich ein Feriendorf, denn wohlhabende Amerikaner habe ihr Ferienhaus oder Sommerhaus in diesem malerischen Dorf. Sogar die
autofreu- digen Amerikaner vergessen ihr Auto, denn die schönen, hübschen Läden, die interessanten
Kunstgalerien und die angenehmen Restaurants laden ein zum Schlendern. In der näheren
Umge- bung gibt es viele Museen und Sehenswürdigkeiten. |

with wonderful houses of different architectural periods. The village, galleries and shops invite people to stroll and linger. The Billings Farm and the house Larry Rockefeller gave to the National Park Service are wonderful museums to visit or just to hike up Mt. Tom behind the Rockefeller house. |

Plymouth Notch
Das ist die Geburtsstätte von Calvin Coolidge (www.calvin-coolidge.org). Das Dorf Plymouth Notch ist dank Coolidge's Sohn John erhalten geblieben. Im schönen Dorf hat es immer noch den Laden, in dem Calvin's Vater gearbeitet hat. Das Zimmer hinter dem Laden ist seine Geburtsstätte. Oben ist das
Sommer White House und gegenüber der Strasse liegt das Haus, in dem Coolidge den Eid abgelegt hat, nachdem der Präsident Warren G. Harding im 1923 gestorben ist. Weiter oben ist die Kirche, die er jeweils besucht hat und eine Käsefabrik, welche seinem Vater gehört hat. Mehrere Gebäude sind für die Besucher zugänglich. Es ist eines der besten Museen in den USA, welches dem Präsidenten gewidmet ist. |

Plymouth Notch
Birthplace of Calvin Coolidge (www.calvin-coolidge.org). The village of Plymouth Notch has been preserved thanks to Calvin Coolidge's son John Coolidge. This lovely pristine village includes the general store where Calvin's father worked and the room behind the store where he was born. Upstairs is the summer White House and across the street is the house where he took the oath of office after President Warren G. Harding died in 1923. Up the street is the church he attended and the cheese factory owned by his father. Other buildings are also open to the public. It is one of the best museums in the USA dedicated to a president. |
