You know I spent two weeks at Embassy CES in New York City. The English school was a good choice. First of all, I benefitted a lot from the class structure and its level. The daily change of teachers, with different educational backgrounds and experience, made the lessons interesting and diverse. The one-to-one training gave me the opportunity to work on details and improve my writing skills. Moreover, I appreciated the Media Center where I had Internet access and could keep in touch with my friends by email.
Then, after my last English lesson, I thought it was worth taking a last deep breath of the exciting New York night life. It started with a farewell drink with a lady from Europe, then I enjoyed the movie The Bandits very much, and just in time I managed to meet Nick at the theater where we saw an excellent comedy performance. Moving on, eating, and checking the Timeout Magazine, we went to a rock concert where the band was dressed like in the 17th century. It was good fun how the band leader spoke in the language of the 17th Century. That is how the fast paced NY City life can be. I have to admit, that's OK for two weeks - if longer, I would have to slow down.
Meanwhile, I arrived in Vermont by Greyhound. The contrast could not be bigger, the impressions of New York are flowing away and the newly experienced quiet and vast wilderness of the Vermont woods around Bridgewater and Woodstock are sinking in. Yes, the change is crass, and I love it! The famous foliage season has started, the first leaves have turned into a beautiful orange / red ..., and I am glad to be here for the peak. By the way, I have got a mountain bike in Bridgewater. I enjoy my daily routine of a one-hour bike tour up the hills and an exhilarating ride downhill.
Gotta go... I wish you a good day.
Robert
PS: By the way, if you meet people who are learning English as a second language like I, recommend a stay at the teacher's home, Golden Rose B&B, Bridgwater to them. I learned a lot, especially through the mix between one-to-one lessons and social activities with my teacher Rose. Find attached a picture, which I took of the cozy teacher’s home. |
