Action in January 2010. Have Fun and Learn. Rose
organized several activities for her students, one
of those was:
The
Swiss
Gastronomy Museum and the Church of Scherzligen in
Thun.
Rose
and four students met at 2.00 p.m. by the entrance
of the castle Schadau.
A
small spiral stair case, once the servant’s
entrance, leads to the museum. The Swiss
Gastronomy Museum has been located in the castle
Schadau since 1988 and celebrated its 20th
anniversary in 2008. It’s a real treasure which
presents to the public old appliances, unique
services and a selection of handwritten menu cards.
In a little room is the original office of the
famous Harry Schraemli.
The
main part of the museum is the library of cooking
books. It contains over 5000 books. From the
smallest to the oldest, the most original to
modern cooking.
After
visiting the museum, Rose took us to the church of
Scherzligen. The church of Scherzligen is one of
the historical churches around the Lake Thun. The
church walls are covered with old Christian
paintings from the 13th to the 16th century.
To
finish our cultural tour, Rose invited us to have
coffee and cake.
It
was a very interesting afternoon. Thank you very
much, Rose.
