English Preparation for Working in the USA

Monday 26th June

I woke up at 6 o’clock in the morning. I took a shower and after I ate a little breakfast. At 8 o’clock I went to my first school lesson. I received a lot of homework. I did it after that. For all my homework I needed 2.5 hours. When I had finished I cooked something to eat.
In the afternoon we went to Rutland to the old navy store. There were a lot of cheap clothes. I bought 2 shirts. Than I drove back to Bridgewater.

Tuesday 27th June

In the afternoon I went with Rose to Woodstock in the library. That’s a nice building. Very old. It was built in 1886. After we went to West Leb, New Hampshire. There were a lot of stores. I bought an external hard disk for my laptop. Here in America it’s a little bit cheaper than in Switzerland. We were hungry and wanted something to eat. There was a Pizza Hut. We went inside and ate 2 big pizzas. They were very good but too much for us. We took the rest home. I took a shower and went to bed.

Thursday 29th June

I woke up at 6.30. I went running for 30 min along the road in Bridgewater. After I took a cold shower. That was great. Than I went to school for two hours.  We drove to Rose’s chalet. We helped her brother catch the cows. It was very hard to bring them over the road. At 1 o’ clock I went hiking in the Green Mountains near there. It was very nice and hot. Than we went with her brother Richard to a political event. That was from a candidate for the Senate in Washington. All things were new for me and a little bit different too. On the way back to Bridgewater we went to a small bar and had something to drink. I spoke with a man form New York.

Thursday 6th July

At 10 o’clock we drove up to Killington. This is a ski and hiking area. We went there for a hike from the valley to the peak. The mountain station is at 4200 feet. On the way to it everywhere forest. But for hiking it’s great. On the way we saw nobody. We were alone with the downhill mountain bikers. We needed for the trip 2.5 hours.  In Bridgewater I made a fire for a BBQ and did the rest of my homework. We had baked potatoes with sour cream, steaks and salad. After dinner I sat by the fire learned my vocabulary and had a beer.

Weekend 7th – 10th July

At 11 o’clock I drove up to Barre. The first stop was in the office. Rolf, the boss from the company was there that weekend. That evening we had a BBQ by Mike. That night I slept the first time in my apartment. It was awful. At 2 o’clock in the morning they started to work in the store next to me. I couldn’t sleep for the rest of the night. Rolf picked me up at 8 o’clock for breakfast and brought me after to Deb. We went to Burlington for shopping. We needed 5 hours. It was too much for me. On Sunday morning I watched a softball game with Mike from the Hoegger team in Waterbury. It was interesting. At 11 o’clock Rolf and I went to Mount Mansfield for a hike. We drove up with the gondola and walked the rest of the way to the peak. On the top the temperature was very comfortable. There were a lot of people. On the way down we were alone. By Ben and Jerry’s we stopped for an ice cream. The ice cream was great. Then we drove to the office and finished the loader. For dinner we had a Pizza. That night I slept better. On Monday morning Rolf and I drove to Boston to an appointment . Then I brought him to the airport and he flew to Washington D.C. I drove back to Bridgewater.
